Speaking on Channels television on the role of Women and their participation in governance, monitored, she pointed that Nigeria is not ready to move forward with the perception they continue to have that women cannot manage the affairs of the country.
The singer who once held a political office some years back, stated that women needs to be given the opportunity to express themselves and she be allowed to have opportunity in the seat of power just like other countries.
According to her, “Nigeria is not doing well; in fact we are going backwards. Although some states are doing very well in some states having women as deputy governors, we still have not had a female governor but when will Nigeria have a woman president, why does it sound so far fetch?
“We need to make it possible for every human being to aspire to be in political office, aspire to serve, aspire to do something for their nation and the women need to be heard and brought in.”
On if possible the men will let their perception of the woman is suppose to be in the kitchen, the singer stressed that the men are only scared of the women which is why they believe that only the kitchen is meant for them and not political matters.
