OSINBAJO ASSURES CHILDREN DISPLACED BY BOKO HARAM OF GOVT'S SUPPORT

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Saturday in Kano, told children displaced by insurgency not to lose hope as the Federal Government was committed to providing for their future.
Mr. Osinbajo gave the assurance at the Internally Displaced Persons’ School in Mariri, Kano, where some 100 children from Borno were receiving education and psychological therapy, courtesy of the Kano State Government.
President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration is committed to the Presidential Initiative for the North East (PINE) Project to take care of all those affected by insurgency in the country, he said.

The Peoples Democratic Party Staff Welfare Association has described as “an absolute bunkum, a clumsy, and blundering blackmail”, an allegation by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Olisa Metuh, that staff members were being sponsored by the APC to destabilize the PDP.

ILE IFE: ANXIETY MOUNTS AS WOMEN REMAINS INDOOR AS ORO FESTIVAL ENTERS SECOND DAY

Many women in the ancient town of Ile-Ife remained indoors on Saturday as the annual Oro festival entered its second day.
Although a palace source told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on condition of anonymity that the festival had nothing to do with the rumoured death of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, the women believed otherwise.
The Nigerian media had been agog with the news of the death of the Ooni, but was vehemently denied by the traditional council of the ancient town.
The commencement of Oro festival on Friday night, which is to last seven days, further fueled speculations and anxiety about the monarch’s demise.

HANK ANUKU INVOLVED IN AUTO CRASH AFTER RELEASE FROM POLICE STATION

Nollywood actor, Hank Anuku, who was arrested some weeks back on Spintex Road with his film crew who were shooting a movie titled ‘Night Scenes in Ghana,’ is said to be involved in an accident.
According to myjoyonline, the actor was said to be on a motorbike heading towards Nungua when he collided with a taxi.
When the driver of the taxi was questioned by press on what actually happened, he alleged that the actor approached him at top speed and then hit the side of his car.
But the actor has denied the allegation saying that it was the driver who ran into him.
“Some guy just appeared from nowhere, but I’m not dead, I just need to fix my bike and he has to go wherever he has to, that’s [his] business,” he said.
According to him, some people only want to make a fuss about nothing especially when they notice the person involved is famous.

BOKO HARAM CONVERTS COLLEGE LABORATORY TO BOMB MAKING FACTORY

Boko Haram terrorists converted an abandoned chemistry laboratory at ​Dikwa ​College of Education in Borno State​,​ to a bomb-making factory, ​before the town was retaken by government troops last week, the Nigerian military said Saturday.
The spokesperson for the army, Sani Usman,​ said troops from the 7 division discovered the laboratory during a mop​-​up operation in the area.
Mr. Usman, a colonel, said some equipment including a welding machine and a mine detector were found at the makeshift factory.
Also recovered from the operation we​re four Toyota Hilux ​pick ups.​
“The gallant troops are in a very high spirit and more determined to further pursue the fleeing terrorists to all known enclaves and sanctuaries,” Mr. Usman said.
