In her birthday address on the assembly ground, Dr. Okei-Odumakin advised the students never to look themselves down because they are in public school, but to see it rather as a privilege to compete and excel.
She gave the students writing materials; exercise books and pens, with admonition that they should never expect anyone to give them fishes, but to learn how to catch fishes by themselves.
Her celebrity friend in company, Mrs. Chioma Akpoka also told the students to face their studies but never allow distractions to affect their focus on their careers. She pointed to the students that they have enough models to look up to, without looking abroad, citing the celebrant, Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin as example of courage and determination worthy of emulation.
The Principal, who received the guests, Mrs. Kolawole Victoria appreciated her humility of considering to mark her birthday in a secondary school to encourage younger generations to look up with hope. She noted that her visit to the school is symbolic and would go long way in giving hope and confidence to the students that their visions are possible.
Teachers and students, in response to the celebrant’s visit said her presence and manner of marking her birthday is unique and would leave long impact of legacy.
