NUJ
A candidate vying for the position of National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Dele Atunbi, has pledged that media salary structure, which will be a lifeline for journalists all over the country, will be given priority attention by his administration if voted into office.
Mr. Atunbi stated this on Sunday while addressing members of the Ondo State Council during his campaign.
He said the present wage in the media industry is a slave’s wage and assured that the media salary structure for journalists will be vigorously pursued to a logical conclusion if he gets into office.
The NUJ Presidential hopeful, who is the incumbent Vice-President, ‘B Zone, of the union, promised that training and retraining of members would also be accorded priority.

He said journalism would be given a new lease of life under his leadership as President of the NUJ.
Mr. Atunbi promised to facilitate rapid development of infrastructure as well as improve standards at the International Institute of Journalism.
He said due to the hazardous nature of journalism, the union would maintain an insurance policy and a safety fund to cater for the needs of members.
