Mr. Idah had on March 28, 2014 attacked the 65-year-old Mrs. Timeyin with machete at her residence in Laderin Housing Estate, Abeokuta.
The convict, before the attack, was said to have been sacked by the retired senior magistrate over alleged theft of her jewellery, mobile phones and electronics; and inretaliation, the sacked worker sneaked into the compound on the fateful, and hacked the woman to death.
He, thereafter took to his heels, but was apprehended by residents shortly after carrying out the crime and later handed over to the police who subsequently arraigned him on April 4, 2014 before an Abeokuta Chief Magistrates’ Court on a one-count charge of unlawful killing.
The offence is contrary to section 316 and punishable under section 319 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun State of Nigeria, 2008, while the case was later transferred to Abeokuta High Court 4, presided over by Justice Abiodun Akinyemi.
Meanwhile, Justice Akinyemi while delivering judgment found Idah guilty of murder and ordered that he be hanged to death.
The convict was represented by his counsel, Felix Dalley.
