EXPLOSION KILLS 4 IN PORT HARCOURT

The Rivers Police Command on Thursday confirmed the death of four persons, following an explosion in a panel beater’s workshop at Eliozu, near Port Harcourt.
The command’s spokesman, Ahmad Muhammad, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port
Harcourt that the police had received report of the incident.
“I can confirm to you that the state police command has received report of the gas cylinder explosion at Eliozu today. Four victims were confirmed dead,” he said.
Mr. Muhammad, deputy superintendent of police, said police had commenced investigation into the incident.
A witness corroborated the police’s position, saying four persons were killed when the gas cylinder exploded.
The witness said that the incident occurred at 6.00pm on Thursday at a panel beater’s workshop.
The zonal office of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said it had not received report of the incident.
The witnesses said that the bodies of the deceased had been taken to a hospital.
