Mr. Saraki was arraigned September 18, but pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail.
On Wednesday, Mr. Saraki appealed to the Supreme Court to stop the trial after the Court of Appeal in Abuja refused the request last week.
PREMIUM TIMES’ Evelyn Okakwu, who is at the Court, reports that Mr. Saraki was accompanied to the tribunal Thursday morning by several senators.
The case against him was read after the arrival of the chairman of the tribunal, Umar Danladi.
