The party spokesperson, Diran Odeyemi, on Sunday also called on the presidency not to honour any certificate of claims for work done on the roads.
“There is no federal road being re-constructed by Aregbesola’s administration that has reached 10 per cent completion rate to justify refund and we are not sure whatever payment made to him will be used for road projects with many outstanding unpaid loans and salaries,” Mr. Odeyemi said.
“We have it on good authority that Governor Aregbesola has presented certificates of completion to the presidency through the office of the Vice President that Gbongan/Osogbo road allegedly awarded at N1 billion per kilometre had been completed.”
According to him, the presidency should do an independent assessment of the road projects and take over their repairs and reconstruction.
Mr. Odeyemi said if the federal government takes over its roads which had become death traps, the Osun government would be able to concentrate on fixing state roads that had suffered neglect.
He cautioned that any plot to get a certificate of completion for roads not finished could smear the anti-corruption stance of the president.
“President Buhari should not allow his image to be enmeshed in messy affairs of Osun State under the watch of Mr. Aregbesola,” he added.
