I HAVE NO REGRETS JOINING THE NIGERIAN ARMY - CHRIS OLUKOLADE

Nigeria’s defence spokesperson, Chris Olukolade, on Tuesday said he has no regrets joining the Nigerian army and speaking for the force.
Mr. Olukolade said this at the launch of his new books in Abuja: “Issues in the mobilization of public support for military operations in Nigeria and The Voice and battles of the Nigerian military”.
He said he started out as a young Army Public Relations Officers and has made progress in helping to restore the capabilities of the Directorate of Army Public Relations.
“In that humble position I never wavered, I never shivered but pressed on in my responsibility to make the fighting force public spirited and free. I would always say to anyone, Give me the military or give me nothing, “he said.

The Federal government yesterday June 29th constituted a four-man committee to probe NNPC over N3.8 trillion unaccounted for by the corporation in the last three years. According to the Edo state governor, who is part of the 4-man probe committee, investigations by the federal government show that NNPC made N8.1 trillion from 2012-2015, paid N4.3 trillion to the federal government and withheld N3.8 trillion which the management of the corporation have not accounted for.

The Nigerian Ship Owners Association on Tuesday said it had sealed a partnership with Ship owners from Greece to bring in 40 vessels.
NISA President, Niyi Labinjo, disclosed this during a meeting in Lagos between NISA and ship owners from Greece.
Mr. Labinjo said that the ships, which will be of various classes and tonnage, would eventually belong to the indigenous ship owners within two years.

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Lagos State Council, on Tuesday said it has concluded arrangement to drag the Nigeria Customs Service to court over the battering of one of its members, Yomi Olomofe, who was pursuing his constitutional duties of news reporting.
Mr. Olomofe who is the Executive Director and Chairman, Editorial Board of Badagry Prime, a news magazine, was last Thursday beaten to a state of coma by smugglers, in the full glare of the public, within the premises of the Seme-Border Command of the Nigeria Customs Service.
The Lagos Council of the Union in a statement signed by the Chairman, Deji Elumoye, said the body
has briefed its lawyers on the sad occurrence and would definitely file a range of law suits against the Nigeria Customs.

COURT APPROVES SENATE LEADER, NDUME'S APPLICATION TO TRAVEL ABROAD FOR HAJJ

An Abuja Federal High Court on Tuesday granted an application by the Senate Majority Leader, Ali Ndume, who is charged with links to Boko Haram, to allow him travel to Saudi Arabia for the lesser Hajj.

Mr. Ndume was arraigned after he was implicated by a member of the Boko Haram sect, Ali Konduga, who has since been convicted and sentenced for the offence.‎
Delivering a short ruling on the Senator’s application, the trial judge, Gabriel Kolawole, ordered the court’s Deputy Chief Registrar (DCR) Litigation, to release Mr. Ndume’s passport and other travel documents to him.
Justice Kolawole also ordered Mr. Ndume to return the travel documents to the DCR within 72 hours of his return to the country.
Mr. Ndume’s application, which was dated June 23, 2015, and moved by his counsel, Rose Okotie-Eboh, was not opposed to by the prosecution counsel, Muslim Hassan.

Contrary to the belief that the recently passed Sexual Offences Bill encourages the defilement of minors, the legislation actually prescribes a life imprisonment term for anyone who has sex with someone under 18 years.
The bill, which was among‎ the 46 legislations hurriedly passed by the last National Assembly, stipulates life imprisonment for any individual convicted of raping or having sexual intercourse with a minor, among others.
It sparked outrage after earlier reports that it had set 11 years as the age of consent for sexual intercourse.

Bola Tinubu had approached the court after AIT aired a documentary about him titled 'Lion of Bourdillon' during the election campaign period. Bola Tinubu says the documentary was created to tarnish his image.

President Buhari has appointed Mrs Amina Bala Zakari as the Acting Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). AISHA BUHARI'S MUSA YOLA DENIES BEING ARRESTED OVER N300M FRAUD

Younger brother to Aisha Buhari, Musa Yola, has denied media reports that he was arrested on the order of President Buhari over a N300 million oil bloc fraud.
