The family made this known when the wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, and the Vice-President’s wife, Dolapo Osibajo, paid a condolence visit to the family in Ikenne over the demise of their matriarch, Hannah Awolowo.
Speaking to the visitors, a daughter Mr. Awolowo, Omotola Oyediran, said the Awolowo family would continue to rally support for the administration towards its success and a better Nigeria.
She said their late parents left behind big shoes to fill, and called on Nigerians not to abandoned them following the demise of their parents.
“We cannot talk of Mama without talking about Papa. Our parents had left big shoes for us, we shall not disappoint the nation,and I called on Nigerians not leave us alone,” Ms. Oyediran said.
Earlier in her brief remark, Mrs. Buhari said the country would remain appreciative of the the positive role the deceased played towards the growth of the nation, emphasising that she would continued to be remembered.
Mrs. Buhari said the late Mama Awolowo was a dutiful wife and mother and the family’s backbone.
