Authorities of Kuje Area Council may settle to probe the former chairman and other leading functionaries if the Contracts Verification Committee recommends so.
When asked if his predecessor would be probed as they are putting the blames of their poor development on the past leadership, Leader of the Legislative arm of the council, Hon. Waziri said it would depend on the recommendations of the verification committee.
“After the committee finishes its assignment we will ascertain the genuineness of multiple projects awarded without completion, commencing from 2009 to 2015”.
Hon. Waziri said the activities of Kuje Area Council are too slow because of the situation the administration met on ground, but assured that things will normalise as they engaged contractors handling some projects in discussion on addressing the issue of huge debts owed them.
The chairman, Kuje chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Godwin Poyi in a swift reaction to divergent tunes over underdevelopment and selective appointments done so far by the administration defended the said poor steps already taken which has already started generating bad feeling about the administration. “If we have recorded some achievements within the three months, we can do better as the administration progresses”.
Meanwhile, As FCT Area Councils marked their first hundred days in office, stakeholders in Kuje Area Council have defended the reasons for their poor performance in the last 100 days putting the blames on the last administration in the area council.
They said, the present administration of the council led by the chairman, Abdullahi Galadima of the All Progressives Congress (APC) met the area at the verge of collapse, which restoring it would take time.
Although, they are yet to officially present their score cards to the residents on how the administration had fared so far, but said the rots inherited from successive administrations were a worrisome thing which needed a lot of time.
Speaking to some journalists, the leader of Kuje Legislative arm, Hon. Samson Waziri said “we met a lot of challenges in the council on our assumption of office, the council was collapsing; things were not in order, staff salaries and arrears of three months we could not pay simple because of litigation we received from contractors”.
