SOME NOLLYWOOD MOVIES LACK VALUES - MUYIWA
The Nigerian movie industry has indeed achieved a great feat that lots of actors from other countries want to affiliate with the industry which is seen as the third growing industry in the world.
A lot of hard work has been put into the sector by vast and experienced practitioners which have
enable the sector to stand out but how ready are some of these practitioners that are coming out to make movies?
While some are there to make a change in the society through good movie, some are out just for the money without minding what the chunk out to the public which has been a serious topic of discuss in recent times.
Some viewers of Nollywood movies have continued to complain about the kind of storylines that are being produced but without adding any value at the end considering the cultured environment of the country.
For versatile actor, Muyiwa Ademola, better known as Authentic, not wanting to be sentimental in his judgment, affirmed that the industry has improved tremendously but lagging behind in terms of storyline.
He eulogized the good level of technical know-how while decrying the poor state of the kind of story that is being told.
“Yes, I want to believe that, especially when we talk about the concepts and stories; but the technicalities are actually better now. The camera knowledge, the technical knowledge, and other technicalities have improved but when you talk about story lines and didactic approach we employ towards the job, all that has changed.
“I can watch ten films with beautiful acting, beautiful storyline but no value. We are in a very cultural environment in which our job is not being seen as entertainment pieces alone,” he told Nation.
